Our Statement of Faith
Our Statement of Faith
We believe in the Holy Scriptures as originally given by God, inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy and the supreme authority in all matters of life. II Timothy 3:15-17
We believe in the only eternally existing Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each equally possessing all the unchangeable attributes of Deity. John 14:23 & 26
God the Father, holy, just, loving, infinite, John 3:16.
God the Son Jesus Christ, perfect God who created all things, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin as a sinless man, a complete sacrifice for our sin through His death on the cross and bodily resurrection from the grave, now seated at the right hand of God interceding for us, visibly returning to earth to reign in righteousness and glory. John 1:1-18
God the Holy Spirit – a divine person who convicts, regenerates, sanctifies and indwells every person upon their acknowledgement of being a sinner and embracing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The Holy Spirit equips us with gifts for service and witness. He glorifies the Father and the Son but not Himself, and gives believers confirmation of their identity as God’s children. John 14:15-21; 16:13-15; Romans 8:16.
We believe in the existence of Satan the Devil, the father of all lies and our accuser. By believing his lie, “You shall not die”, Adam and all mankind forfeited their relationship with God and became spiritually dead resulting in eternal separation from God. Genesis 2:16 & 17, 3:1-4.
We believe that new birth is essential for spiritual life. Salvation and forgiveness of sin is by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Victorious living is based on Galatians 2:20, “…it is no longer I but Christ.” John 3:3-8, Romans 5:8-11, 10:9-11.
We believe that the church is the Body of Christ. All believers are members of the universal church as designed by God. Christ is the Head of the church and has privileged and gifted His members to be His redeemed ambassadors in this world and to celebrate His goodness in our lives. We meet to teach and be taught, to fellowship, to remember Christ and to pray. Ephesians 1:22 & 23, 5:26-29.
We practice believer's baptism as an expression of our voluntary faith in Jesus Christ and as a symbol of our death to sin and our resurrection to a victorious life in accordance with the scriptures. Romans 6:8-11
We believe that we are stewards and not owners of all that God gives us. By giving of our time, wealth, and spiritual gifts we share in the generous nature of God (2 Peter 1:4) and practice a life of personal sacrifice. This service is directed to the household of faith, to the community in which we live, and to the world. i.e. “Other focused”. Our stewardship is an act of love, obedience and faith knowing that God provides for His work through us for His glory. II Corinthians 9:6-15.
8. We believe that God’s intention for marriage is given to us in the Biblical account of creation and is clearly defined as the monogamous, covenant relationship between one man and one woman as long as they both shall live. (Genesis 2:25)
We believe that the love relationship between Jesus Christ and His church (His bride) is an example for us to follow in our marriage relationship. (Ephesians 5:25-33, Matthew 9:15, Revelation 22:17, 2 Corinthians 11:2).
Because of humanity’s sinful nature, all have been alienated from God and this is manifest in many different ways including sexuality (Romans 1:18-32, 3:21-26). We believe that our gender is God given and determined at conception as male or female and evident at birth (Genesis 1:27)(though very rare exceptions occur). We recognize that God does not withhold His love from anyone and desire to extend that love individually and as a church. Though we have transgressed His ways, we encourage all to be reconciled to God through the saving life of Jesus Christ. (John 3:16, Genesis 1:27; 2:20-25; Ephesians 5:25-33; Romans 1:18-32; 3:21-23; 8:2 Corinthians 5:16-19).
9. We believe that God desires and hears our prayers, therefore we teach and practice prayer personally and corporately at all age levels. Jesus has set the example for prayer and fasting. Romans 12:9-13, Luke 6:12.
