-A Bit of History

Willowdale Fellowship began in the fall of 2002 with a handful of people who were either driving too far to participate in local church functions or had stopped attending church altogether. The Lord called three couples with unique gifts and abilities to start a community church. It was our desire to be a community of believers highly involved in one another’s lives. We started in the living room of a home on Willowdale Road in the R.M.of Springfield…hence the name. As people were added, the Sunday meetings were moved for a short time to the community hall in Cook’s Creek.

The church family was then invited to meet in the Neufeld’s newly renovated barn. The setting was certainly unique with the meetings held in the loft of the barn. Many memories and deep friendships were established around our Sunday lunches, the fire pit and creekside setting. Over the years, the leadership at Willowdale Fellowship have sought to keep Sunday services congregationally involved with family led worship, sharing and an interactive teaching time.

In the summer of 2011, Norm Neufeld, who has been serving as pastor of Willowdale Fellowship since its beginning, took a 3 month sabbatical to seek the Lord regarding the future of the church. While the barn setting was unique, it also seemed to hinder growth and a public presence. For over a year Norm had been feeling a tug towards moving the church to Tyndall, Manitoba. Tyndall was a growing bedroom community with many families but no church presence. At the end of the sabbatical, Norm called the church to regroup in Tyndall starting in the fall of 2011. That November, Willowdale Fellowship began meeting on Sunday mornings in the Tyndall Village Community Hall to worship, learn, pray and fellowship, still enjoying lunch together.

December 2018 It's hard to believe that 7 years have passed since we began in Tyndall. We have enjoyed numerical and personal spiritual growth. The Lord has blessed us with the wonderful gift of children and Kids Church is thriving! While we continue to provide a Church Presence in the community and desire many to come into a relationship with Jesus Christ, the greatest thing that I have seen is the fact that we have become a community that loves each other. People, diverse people, people with no connection to each other, other than the common bond of being followers of Jesus. "And the world will know that we are Christians by our love".

2022 Update

The series of Covid related events took it's toll on all churches as public meetings were drastically changed. According to government mandates, we had to either not meet or meet with restrictions in place. Saddly, this also caused us to re-evaluate our meeting location and due to the limited room size at TVCC, we chose to relocate to Cooks Creek as the gym allows the social distancing requirement in place at that time. With the new location, there have been new people attending and we are making Cooks Creek our home.  Thankfully, as of March 15th, 2022, all Covid regualtions have been dropped and we are enjoying getting back to normal. Masks are no longer required but we respect your choice to wear one or not wear one. We continue to ask that if you are sick, please stay home...otherwise, we would love to see you! Come worship and grow with us.
